Did You Say New Treats!? Ummm.. Duh! Yeah.. And They Are Scrumptious!

Wednesday was a great day for the pups because they got to try 3 new treats from DoodleBug Barkerie!

We discovered this dog themed bakery on Instagram (of course) and I couldn’t say no to trying new things. Their Etsy store features 4 different baked goods and even gives you the option to make your treats grain free.

I opted for the Sample Trio Goodie Bag to see which one the pups liked the most. NEWS FLASH: they liked all of them exactly the same.

These are the Sweet PotatOat Cookies that are sweet potato dog cookies topped with yogurt icing and oats. They are a little harder so Mattis had a hard time biting into it, but don’t worry he suffered through it and ate as much as he could.  And I’m sure you can imagine that every treat I gave Keela was gone in less than 3 seconds.

Anxiously waiting for seconds.

The CocoPumpkin Bites were a huge hit. They are pumpkin and coconut flakes packed into bite size biscuits and were really soft and really easy to break so they are perfect for smaller dogs and puppies who can’t eat as much at one time. Not to mention they smell sooooooo good!

As much as she wanted to eat it she waited until I told her too. (I caved in like 2 seconds)

The Peanut ButNana Clusters were definitely my favorite because they look JUST like Chic-fil-A’s chicken nuggets! I can’t be the only one who thinks this! I seriously wanted to take a bite because I thought they sent me nuggets in the mail. Now I really want Chic-fil-a.

Anyway… I think these were Keela’s favorite because she could hardly contain herself when I pulled them out the bag. These treats are a mixture of organic peanut butter and banana – super simple! They are also a little bit crunchier so Mattis took his time when eating them, which doesn’t bother me any because it helped keep him occupied that much longer.

10 Minute American Themed Dog Treats

My favorite holiday of the year is finally here! Being in the South on the 4th of July is basically like celebrating Christmas anywhere else.

We are quite the patriotic bunch. Most people have BBQ’s and family get togethers during this time and most families have dogs. But have you ever thought about including them in the American themed fun?

Of course I had to try my hand at the idea, and I am no expert at decorating cookies but I thought they turned out super cute and are the perfect addition to our 4th of July BBQ!

These treats are super easy to make. All you really need is a creative mindset and a few items you probably already have in your kitchen.

I used what we already had in our pantry – peanut butter flavored Milk Bones (the dogs favorite), cream cheese, and food coloring.

Simply mix the cream cheese with the food coloring and you’ve got your dog-approved icing! I did melt the cream cheese before decorating the treats to give it a creamier texture, which was pretty easy to work with.

Because the cream cheese isn’t covering a large surface, it is safe to give your dog more than one of the treats a day, but I would try to limit the intake. Cream cheese is completely safe for dogs but it is recommended that you don’t over do it. I gave Keela a whole treat but Mattis only get’s half because of his size. Of course, you know your dog the best so, you know, you do you. 🙂

Now you can get ready for the festivities!

*If you are making this treat the night before your event, make sure to keep them in the refrigerator so the cream cheese doesn’t go bad.

Giving me the look because I hadn’t let them have any of these treats yet.

I hope you and your pups have a great 4th and enjoy these festive treats. You can always change the food coloring and make them for any occasion.

Don’t forget to tag us in any photo you post so we can see how much your pup loves them!

DIY Watermelon Pupsicles

This is EASILY the best recipe I’ve ever made – human and dog wise. This super easy treat is great for helping your pups cool off in the middle of summer. Read below to find out how to make these tasty treats your dogs will love!

I knew I wanted my dogs to stay cool in this intense heat but couldn’t keep giving them Frosty Paws every day – as much as they would love that! Some of you may know I’m crazy about DIY projects and that will never change, so I decided to make my own DIY creation with the help of Pinterest (of course).

You only need two easy ingredients and about an hour and a half of freezer time to make these delicious treats.

What You’ll Need

  • Watermelon (scooped out with no seeds)
  • 1 can of Coconut Milk
  • Blender
  • Cute dog themed molds (optional!)

I used an ice cream spoon to scoop out the watermelon and unless you want a watermelon growing out of yours dogs stomach I suggest you remove all seeds before blending. (Did anyone else’s parents ever tell them that as a kid?)

I used a Ninja blender to mix the ingredients and it took about 2 seconds total. I absolutely love the Ninja for all of my mixing needs – even when you are using a lot of ice!

And if it happens that you make a mess, just go with it.

I didn’t like how orange the color turned out, so I made another batch with much more watermelon and a lot less coconut milk. They both tasted pretty much the same.

I bought both of these molds from Amazon for a really good price! They worked just as I thought they would and I can’t wait to use them on more projects.
I actually ended up leaving the pupsicles in the freezer for about 3 or 4 hours because I forgot about them (whoops) but they were perfect when I popped them out of the mold and put them in a bowl for easier serving.

They were a HUGE hit in the household and not only with the dogs. I tried them for myself, being the watermelon lover that I am, and absolutely LOVED them! The dogs were probably mad that I was eating treats meant for them but you gotta do what you gotta do.
